Use token dimensions as planning geometry
Punchboard planning needs the finished token footprint, board size, margin, and gutter in millimetres. A simple grid estimate is useful for early quantity and area decisions, but it is not a die-cut nesting quotation.
How to apply it
If a 20 mm circular token is placed on a rectangular grid, the grid footprint intentionally leaves more unused face area than an optimized supplier nest. Use the calculator to compare component directions or board counts, then ask the manufacturer for its die-line, minimum bridge, and waste requirements.
Questions and decisions
Token shape, bleed, board thickness, token separation, die wear, and registration requirements vary by production method. Never promise a final yield until the supplier approves the layout.
